Setting Alerts Tailored To Your Needs

Even with the best management plan, diabetes can still be unpredictable at times. In addition to the Glucose Level Alerts, your Eversense E3 CGM System has two other alert settings which when turned ON, may help you manage sudden or unexpected changes in glucose levels: Predictive Alerts and Rate of Change Alerts.

Predictive And Rate Of Change Alerts

The Eversense E3 CGM System is providing On-Body Vibratory Alerts through the smart transmitter and Audio and Visual Alerts on your mobile device for each of those two types of alerts.

Predictive Alerts

Be alerted 10 or 20 or 30 minutes before your sensor glucose level, if it continues at its current rate, will cross the Low or High Glucose Alert Threshold.

Rate Of Change Alerts

Be alerted when your sensor glucose level is changing (rising or falling) faster than the Rate of Change you set in the alert.

Getting “Early” Warnings: Examples of What to Expect Once You Set These Alerts

Predicted Low Glucose Alert

  • In this example, the smart transmitter vibrates and the mobile app gives an audible alert together with a “Predicted Low Glucose” message on the screen.

  • This alert warns you that you will reach your Low Glucose Alert value in 20* minutes.
* This is the time you entered in Settings. You can choose between 10 or 20 or 30 minutes to be notified prior to a potential high or low event.

Rate Of Change Alert (Falling)

  • In this example, the smart transmitter vibrates, and the mobile app gives an audible alert together with a “Rate Falling” message on the screen.

  • This alert warns you when your glucose value is falling at a rate equal to or faster than 2.5* mg/dL per minute.
* This is the rate of change you entered in Settings. You can choose a rate of change between 1.5 to 5.0 mg/dL per minute.

Helpful Tips

It takes practice to determine which of those alerts is most helpful for you. Turn ON and use only those that best support your diabetes management plan and fit your lifestyle. If in doubt, talk to your health care provider to help you choose and set the right alerts for you.

Using The Predictive Alert

You might not want it ON when you are first starting to use a CGM system, but then after that, it is really beneficial. Predictive alert may help you prevent a hyper or hypoglycaemic event.

Using The Rate Of Change Alert

The most common use of this type of alert is for a rapid rise in your glucose level to likely indicate that you might have forgotten to bolus with your meal or didn’t bolus enough. Similarly, a rapid fall might indicate that your glucose level is dropping fast from exercise.

Pay Attention To Your Readings, Symptoms And Trends

If your symptoms are different than the sensor glucose values or what the alert indicates, confirm your glucose value with a fingerstick, using a Blood Glucose meter, before making a treatment decision.

The Eversense® E3 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System is indicated for continually measuring glucose levels for up to 180 days in persons with diabetes age 18 and older. The system is indicated for use to replace fingerstick blood glucose (BG) measurements for diabetes treatment decisions. Fingerstick BG measurements are still required for calibration primarily one time a day after day 21, and when symptoms do not match CGM information or when taking medications of the tetracycline class. The sensor insertion and removal procedures are performed by a health care provider. The Eversense E3 CGM System is a prescription device; patients should talk to their health care provider to learn more.

The Eversense® 365 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System is indicated for continually measuring glucose levels for up to one year in people (18 years and older) with diabetes.
